Woven Vs Prewoven Cane

There are two types of caned surfaces — either woven or prewoven. Woven cane is worked right on the chair. When you look at the seat there will be a series of holes through which the cane is drawn. Prewoven cane seats and backs come "ready-made." A spline in a groove around the opening holds the section in place. The type of repair you make depends on the existence of the holes or the groove. Prewoven cane cannot be applied to a seat having holes; woven cane cannot be applied to a seat surrounded by a groove.
