Caning is not difficult, but it does take time. The seat of the rocking chair that we recaned in this chapter is a little larger than most, and required something over 22 hours of work. Fortunately, the work can be broken into as many sessions as you need, because you can stop at any time and pick up later just where you left off. Because you can develop sore fingertips if you are not accustomed to weaving cane, it probably is better to schedule sessions no longer than 4 hours long on any day.
