Measurements

Although care has been taken to ensure that metric measurements are true and accurate, they are only conversions from the imperial. Throughout the book instances will be found where an imperial measurement has slightly varying metric equivalents, usually within 0.5mm either way, because in each case the closest metric equivalent has been given. Care should be taken to use either imperial or metric measurements consistently throughout a project.

The sizes given in the cutting lists are the actual dimensions that the materials should be. For some man-made boards, manufacturers only specify dimensions in imperial or metric, not both. As some sizes do not translate from one to the other exactly, bear this in mind when you buy, and get the nearest size available in the measuring system you prefer.
