Assembling The Doors

1 Varnish the edges of the panel before assembling each door, to help prevent the wood shrinking or expanding with changes in humidity. Assemble and glue the corners of the frame, with the panel loose and unglued in the centre (see Fig 8.8) - as it is a wide panel, it might change size and split if glued firmly in place. Test the door for fit in the carcass.

2 Prepare the lengths of beading in the same way as for the drawer front, except that this time they are not cut as wide. Fix the beading with pins and glue around the inside edge of the frame, not on to the panel.
