Any joint can be made with one or more of the basic cuts shown below. A tenon, for example, is formed with two or more rabbet cuts. A lap joint is made from two dadoes or wide rabbets. The secret in creating any joint is making these simple cuts precisely and in ^^ the correct sequence. ^^ C

But before you make your first cut, remember to measure twice. ^^
