The back legs of this chair can be maue of single thickness mahogany, from the floor line up to the point marked / or. the drawing. All joints from here down are mortised and tenoned. The front and back rails arc made of oak and band sawed to shape. They are then veneered with cross-grained mahogany. Section C—D shows a quarter-round piece of mahogany along the top edge of the front rail and a thin piece attached to the underside. A mortise j'i" wide and deep, is cut into the back rail to receive the middle panel which connects with the seat frame and the curved back. The back is mortised to the back legs at J and has a veneered surface and a raised edge which can be glued on and rounded over to the shape shown in the section.
